About The Project

Kombris Project

Kombris is a project initiated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea and funded by the Brot für die Welt. The Project goal is to bridge the communication gap between the rural communities. The Project aims to create an empowering self sustainable system that bridges telecommunication gaps, enhance learning and create economic opportunities. The project will be implemented in 10 sites. 1. Tolokiwa Island. Tewei-Siassi District 2. Etep/Gatop Tewei-Siassi District 3. Gaubin Hospital Sumkar District 4. Senior Flier Seminary Finschafen District 5. Sigimaru Health Centre Salt Nomane District 6. Kambuku Health Centre Angoram District 7. Garaina Mission Station Wau Waria District 8. Zaka Mission Station Huon Gulf District 9. Stang Girls School Markham District 10. Begesin Health Centre Madang District

Project Concept

Kombris Project concept has three (3) main components 1. Solar Setup 2. Fm Radio Setup and 3. Community Wi-Fi Setup. The FM Radio and Community Wi-Fi components are placed in a box. The box is configured and will be monitored remotely. The mini solar setup will power up the 10watt FM transmitter and community Wi-Fi devices. Enabling the communication and learning through FM radio and internet connection.
