Accessibility & Geographical Focus
The landscape of Karamui is valley and far beyond the horizons are borders to 4 different provinces, 1 LLG and 27 wards, 5 airstrips, number of schools, health centers and aidpost but all are distant from each other. The only accessibility from other district and provinces is through a Cessna and other light aircraft. Most flights comes from Goroka a direct 25 minutes into Karamui or other nearby airstrips.
Karamui Salt-Nomane District of Simbu prvince share borders with Gulf, Eastern Highlands, Jiwaka, Western Highlands and Southern Highlands. The location is truly central of all highlands provinces and inland Gulf province, a distinct place that has both hot and cold mixed climate with highland and lowland vegetation growing all year round. Betelnut and coconut trees growing all year as these are common coastal crops with coffee and cocoa as main cash crops, grown, harvested and airlifted for market in Goroka or Lae. It is not really that cold at night nor too hot during the day locking the climate just in the middle of hot and cold. This makes a mixed vegetation, crops and cash crops that are harvested all year round.
